About us

InovaYa, a company with social and environmental impact

At InovaYa, we fight for preserving the water resource and for improving worldwide access to drinking water. As both a Jeune Entreprise Innovante [innovative young company] and an Entreprise Solidaire d’Utilité Sociale [solidarity-based company of social utility], we feel continuously pushed to innovate in search of an ever more significant impact.

Jeune Entreprise Innovante - InovaYa - JEI
Entreprise Solidaire d'Utilité Sociale - ESUS - InovaYa

We develop our own accessible, sustainable and eco-designed technologies (pollution and environmental impact are restricted to a minimum throughout their lifetime) for the filtration and treatment of fresh water. Moreover, they are designed to make the user perfectly autonomous and independent for more than 10 years.

Above all, we love working with change makers and, more generally, with involved people who want to make a positive impact on the world. NGOs, public authorities, industry partners, if we offer you our know-how, it’s because YOU have the power to use it.

For access to drinking water, the most widely employed systems use sea water and underground water, because surface water is often considered as too difficult to treat due to its pollution. However…

sea water pollution
underground water

Fresh water is a precious, rare, depletable resource and a vital element. Together, we have to preserve it and make it sustainably accessible to everyone.

Beyond raising awareness amongst project sponsors (on the importance of environmental, health, economic and social aspects when choosing their system), we set out to achieve two goals:

Preserving the water resource

By treating water and industrial effluents and encouraging REUSE

Sustainably quenching thirst across the world

By improving access to drinking water for isolated communities
through clean, accessible technologies

OUR DNA

Innovation

THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

Developing sustainable, innovative solutions

After several years of R&D, we became real experts in the sustainable membrane filtration of surface water.

THROUGH OUR APPROACH

Innovating through our approach to project management

We assist every project sponsor throughout the process. We have a field-oriented approach and we encourage our partners to become independent.

THROUGH THE ECONOMIC MODEL

Startling by our singular economic model

As both a Jeune Entreprise Innovante [innovative young company] and an Entreprise Solidaire d’Utilité Sociale [solidarity-based company of social utility], we reinvest in favour of change makers.

An ambitious, committed team

Giving our work a meaning and having an ethical conscience: two mantras which influenced the professional choices each of us made. With our diverse in skills and knowledge, our team brings together people coming from completely different worlds, and looking towards the same horizon: a positive impact on the world.

Khaled Al Mezayen

PRESIDENT
CO-FOUNDER

Know more about me

Strength: I am a diplomat, I am responsive
Weakness: I am always running around

A subtle mix of Syrian and Romanian, spiced up by a “French Touch”, I like to say that I am truly international.

I have a PhD in Industrial Pharmaceutics from the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and a Master’s degree in Health Industry Management from the ESC Toulouse business school. I naturally turned therefore to business development abroad.

After a humanitarian mission at the Turkey-Syria border, I went back home with thing in mind: to become truly useful. Indeed, one of the main causes of child mortality throughout the world, and more particularly in conflict zones and/or isolated areas, is the absence of permanently clean water.

So, in 2013, I created a company in Romania and developed the first filtration module which had international success.

This made me confident to go further following this approach, so I set up InovaYa with the goal of offering a global solution to the water issue in isolated areas.

Guillaume Lonchamp

FINANCIAL MANAGER
CO-FOUNDER

Know more about me

Strength: I stay calm in (almost) any situation
Weakness: I need 8 hours of sleep

In Cameroon, I was urgently admitted into a hospital in Yaoundé after drinking contaminated water, which made be brutally realize the crucial need for access to good quality water. I was totally cured by the right treatment, but there are too many who would not have such a chance.

InovaYa was thus my dream opportunity to use my skills for a cause. My education in several English-speaking countries and three years in Romania gives me a strong cultural sensitivity (understand what you want…).

As an employee in a big group, I could see how many procedures there are. But don’t get me wrong, there’s a good side to it… (however, consume in moderation) I guess you might have an idea that I am the task master of the team. Somebody had to be… so well, here I am…

Justine Vidil

INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER / CO-FOUNDER

Know more about me

Strengths: I am persevering
Weakness: cherries

Born in the country known for its cheese, I always travelled the world with a back-pack, settled down in Vietnam, then in Romania, and I eventually returned to France.

I have a Master’s degree in international private law and economic cooperation, and I chose early international business development missions, in different roles.

Involved in many association projects, all I wanted was to give a meaning to my work. A perfect job did not exist, so I created it with Guillaume and Khaled!

Olivier Boudau

FIELD TECHNICIAN

Know more about me

Strengths: I am persevering and open-minded
Weakness: I am shy

Born in Paris, I came to the Toulouse region when I was 4 years old. Surrounded by parachutists, I knew very early that I wanted to work in defence and I naturally chose the Army.

I then specialised in water management and, being passionate about this subject, which is vital for our planet, I took part in many missions abroad: Réunion, ex-Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Ivory Coast, Lebanon, and Mali.

I then understood that I should acquire more in-depth knowledge. For three years in my regiment, I was the manager of the water treatment cell and supervisor of the water process, trainer on water intended for human consumption and in charge of inspection and technical intervention operations relating to my position.

Since I wanted to work outside the military environment, InovaYa is the opportunity for a beautiful, personal challenge for the second part of my career.

Charlène Roulle-Oberti

DRINKING WATER
PROJECT OFFICER

Know more about me

Strength: I can make things work
Weakness: I like good meals with my friends

Specialised in project management and iterative and adaptive methods (agile methods), I try to live, both in my personal and pro life, by the idea that I should choose attention over intention: I am passionate about people and their interactions and I prefer to adapt to changes than to follow a plan without questioning anything.

I graduated from the Institut d’Études Politiques in Lyon and spent the first part of my career managing associations involved in the performing arts, popular education and digital skills development.

Because I wanted to continue evolving in a flexible professional environment with a wide capacity of action, I joined InovaYa’s team. This adventure provides an ideal environment where I can use my skills for improving the conditions of life and care for isolated populations across the world.

WATER ENGINEER
R&D PROJECT OFFICER

Know more about me

Strengths: I am patient, and I adapt easily
Weakness: I love skiing and Lebanese food

During a one-year academic exchange programme in India, I became aware of the importance of water treatment in preventing water-borne diseases caused by contaminated water. After completing my training as an engineer at INSA in Lyon, I decided to specialise in water treatment by doing a PhD at the University Grenoble Alpes, on the problems relating to the treatment of emerging micro-pollutants, before completing my professional experience at the CNRS in Saint-Gobain, with projects on the filtration of aqueous effluents.

I now have the dream opportunity to use my knowledge and skills at InovaYa, with the goal of developing solutions for easy access to drinking water and the clean-up of industrial effluents.

After having lived in a dozen of different places in 10 years, I am finally settling down, for good, I hope!

Know more about me

Strengths: I am positive and persevering
Weakness: diners with raclette dishes

My travels in different countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, made me become fully aware of the aberrations and inequalities which are still present. It is difficult to come back home and not feel the need to raise awareness and change the world! I gradually developed the vital need to give a meaning to my work, using my skills for a cause and not for a profit. So, I took the plunge with enthusiasm and left my small town in southern France to join IonovaYa’s team!

I have a Master’s degree in marketing and communication, I love to scratch my head to find the right word, to work on images, to create, to learn to surpass myself, for the sole purpose to make the projects I care about, accessible worldwide. And then, frankly, to be able to do it ethically, for a company and a team sharing my values, it’s just great!

Know more about me

Strengths: I am curious
Weakness: my impatience and coffee

With my atypical background in various industrial fields, I focused on water treatment, in particular because of the current issues around this resource and its management.

With a two-year university degree in Mechanical and Productive Engineering, I am used to design products and systems, improve processes and thanks to all this, even people’s lives. Then, I decided to focus on the automation of systems to meet the specific needs of the industry.

I joined InovaYa during my apprenticeship year in professional license at a decisive moment in my career. I was able to discover a field and a company that I like, that help me move forward and push me further from my comfort zone every day.

After this first year of experience, I decided to stay in the adventure and to continue building a future with safer water for all.

Know more about me

Strengths: accessibility, dynamism, tenacity, good mood
Weakness: my honesty (even if for me it’s not a fault) and motorbike (I know, it’s bad)

I have worked internationally in several industrial environments, but always in the technical field (energy, water treatment, climatic chambers, logistics, etc.), and in different positions: design office technician, after-sales engineer , after-sales service manager, technical manager and finally project manager.

I am happy to have the chance to be able to put my versatility (from the conception in the heat of a design office, to troubleshooting “both hands in the sludge” at -25 ° C by explaining to the customer that everything is fine) in the service of a sustainable, united and above all useful “adventure”.

I immediately liked InovaYa team: goodwill, transparency and many other common values allowed me to go ahead without too much hesitation. To have joined a company at the time of its expansion, conducive to the fact of growing all together, is for me very motivating and very stimulating.
